Story Behind the Need
Business group: Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank's Corporate, Investment Banking, and Capital Markets businesses.
Project: GBME is searching for a Technical Specialist Advisory to liaison between business stakeholders and internal engineering, architects and external vendor teams, ensuring solutions are developed and delivered on time, efficiently and with high quality for various projects within GBME.
Role will be based in the Cash Prime Broker IT group in support of the Prime Services global businesses with a focus across many dimensions covering functional SME to all Front Office and Middle Office functions in support of the business clients, face-off to vendor where core systems are run covering change request management and testing and provide functional specification to the developers in the team in support of internally developed capabilities.

Supporting client issues with reporting, working with vendor on capabilities and specifications sent, person expected to write the specifications - interacting with front and middle office though heavily working with stakeholders independently, need to know how business works and process flows; need to be able to support developers ask questions and do their own testing

Typical Day in Role:
• Demonstrate an informed knowledge of business functions to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities.
• Ensure business specifications/requirements documentation is accurately prepared and comprehensive to support sizing/development efforts and as input to various project documentation.
• Develop and deliver Business Requirements Documents, Design Documents, Use Cases, and Process Models and Test Plans as required.
• Performed detailed data analysis to map internal data flows to vendor supplied data integration specification and to support developers in the build of such integration artifacts.
• Perform detailed data analysis on developer produced reports for data accuracy, completeness and consistency prior to data being transmitted to vendors for integration in vendor solution
• Development of detailed test plans for all in scope tasks.
• Responsible for verification and cross-checking of data transmitted to vendor has been correctly represented in vendor UI.
• Log and track bugs found either independently, reported by the business or reported by vendor.
• Participate in the development of detailed project plans, the monitoring of progress against planned objectives and securing consensus and co-operation from users and senior management.
• Work closely across GBME technology teams during all stages of the system development life cycle and bridge the gap between business and technology sides of the solution.
• Liaising between the business community and the IT organization to provide technical solutions that meet user needs.
• Build relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues in Global regions.
• Support production issues and handle escalations during Release cycles as needed.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
1) 5+ years practical experience and product business knowledge in capital markets and in particular extensive experience with all cash Prime Brokerage business processes, process flows, data and systems for Equity, Fixed Income and Options products.
2) Minimum 4 years' working knowledge of databases such as SQL Server, with ability to create and run complex queries independently.
3) Excellent Excel skills and in particular familiarity with Pivot tables and cross referencing independent datasets.
4) Proficient with Unix Tools, SQL queries, PL/SQL, and SQL Loader - or equivalent

Nice-To-Have Skills:
1) Experience with JIRA
2) Experience working across multiple teams and functions to ensure alignment.
3)Experience working with all phases of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
4) Experience working on projects that span change in front, middle or back-office systems and teams.

Soft Skills Required:
• Ability to adapt quickly to new processes and standards, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver working results.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills and ability to work independently within a small team.

Education:
• A recognized undergraduate degree or diploma in business administration, computer science or related field required.

Best VS. Average Candidate:
Critical to understand what Prime service business is about and Cash PB - not looking to train and they have to hit the ground running; different varied work on day to day or week to week so they need to be able to think on your feet
