Summary: Candidate will have a strong Farm/Agribusiness background as this position is responsible for achieving profitable underwriting results in support of growth and profit objectives by appropriate risk selection, agency relations, book management and development of the Enterprise Farm/Agribusiness and Monoline Auto (Auto Accel) program business opportunities.

What You'll Be Doing:

Solicits and develops Farm/Agribusiness and Monoline Auto (Auto Accel) opportunities through relationship development and agency travel.

Underwrite new and renewal business for Farm/Agribusiness & Monoline Auto (Auto Accel) business including the evaluation, classification, and rating of risk to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing.

Building and establishing underwriting guidelines and reference materials for Agribusiness.

Refers potential risks outside of your authority to department Team Lead and/or Manager after pre-underwriting is complete. Demonstrate knowledge of subject material through referral discussions and file documentation. Exhibit sound judgment in decision-making.

Analyzes quality, volume, mix of business and profit for assigned state. Identify trends in submission activity and works to meet production targets as established. Maintain policy retention and pricing objectives.

Maintains superior service that meets and exceeds department standards and as well as our Enterprise brand of service, trust and relationship.

Displays understanding ease of doing business (EODB) with customers.

Develop effective relationships with agents to meet production goals. Practice effective verbal and written communication skills and maintain professionalism in all work dealings.

Develops on-going working relationships with insurance producers and keeps them up-to-date on underwriting and/or product changes.

Maintains relationships with agencies, claims, Enterprise counterparts.

Responsible for agency travel to increase producer awareness of Enterprise underwriting appetites, philosophy and product offerings.

Develop and maintain full knowledge of all policy forms, coverages, rating plans and manuals for all lines written. Serve as a resource to our agents and share knowledge and experience with our underwriter team.

Maintain thorough and complete file documentation for all assigned accounts. Thought process should be evident and logical.

What You'll Bring To The Company:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or CPCU designation strongly desired.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Agribusiness experience.
  • Professional insurance designation (e.g. CPCU, AFIS, etc.) preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to analyze and interpret underwriting manuals, policies.
  • Working knowledge of ISO based products and services (i.e. rates, rules & forms).
  • Ability to build effective relationships.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities of varying complexities.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills.
