Summary:

The Senior Director, Market Access leads the successful development and execution of the Commercial Market Access Strategy, Payer & Trade Relations and Supply Chain & Distribution to improve patient access to enable top-tier commercial performance, strengthening channel, trade & distribution, and optimizing both near-term and long-term profitability. They will serve as the internal point of contact for all payor and specialty pharmacy issues and opportunities. They will play a key role in advancing NS Pharma's Commercial mission as part of the Commercial leadership team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the function of professionals and necessary/required consultants across functions of Market Access, Payers, Pricing, Trade Relations, Corporate Accounts & Supply Chain and Distribution teams.
  • Provide critical leadership in launching and leading an overall market access strategy, product positioning, managed care launch, market research, medical advisory board participation, and pricing research as a US expert in payer and pricing strategies.
  • Act as the lead for all Managed Market strategic and tactical plan development and execution to achieve target results; development of a comprehensive annual business plan to support a diversified ultra rare disease portfolio including cell and gene therapies.
  • Discover opportunities to develop/refine strategies for managed market customers, physicians, distributors, to drive unencumbered access and favorable reimbursement.
  • Develop recommendations to optimize the company's product positioning and increase product market share via leadership of collaborative pull-through initiatives with field sales, brand and market access marketing.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert to support internal and external business partners on pricing recommendations, contract strategies, business development deals.
  • Build, lead and propose a detailed department budget supporting portfolio and corporate objectives.
  • Support clinical development and business development activities with strategic insights and guidance pertaining to pricing, reimbursement, payer access landscape and other necessary market access parameters.
  • Will advise HQ on their relationships with US based manufacturers to influence decision-making regarding pricing, reimbursement and access in and outside the US.
  • Manage state licensing requirements and monitor trends and associated impact to NS Pharma operations.
  • Advance relationships with wholesalers, GPO's, IDN's, 3PL's, retail and specialty distributors and pharmacies with emphasis on collaboration, value-add and compliance.
  • Collaboration across Alliance Management/Business Development, Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, Patient Services, Business Operations, Finance, Legal, and other functional teams in the development and implementation of novel tools/resources aligned with goals ensuring commercial success.
  • Responsible for the development of product channel strategies, trade distribution channel design, and selection of vendors for future products, including unique features such as cold chain and cryogenic therapies.
  • Oversee Supply Chain and Distribution site readiness evaluations and activities in preparation of new product launches such as injection, infusion, cold chain and cryogenic products.
Qualifications:
  • Full functional knowledge of US Reimbursement landscape for pharmaceutical products, including private, federal, and state payer programs, is required.
  • Rare disease product launch experience with emphasis on managed markets, access and reimbursement.
  • Extensive experience working with specialty distributors and pharmacies.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and third-party contract organizations.
  • Deep financial savvy and analytical skills.
  • Experiences with rare / orphan disease therapeutic areas.
  • Market analysis, pricing, and budgeting skills are required.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a multi-cultural, global team environment as responsibilities include cross-functional collaboration with NS Pharma and Nippon Shinyaku (a parent in Japan) or vendors/contractors.
  • Collaborative leadership experience of cross functional teams.
  • Good judgement, decision-making skills and leader of people.
  • Team player, flexible, ability to adapt to change, self-starter.
Education / Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree in business or related area preferred.
  • 15 + years of experience with leading Managed Markets, Trade Relations, Supply Chain within the pharmaceutical industry (An equivalent combination of experience and education maybe be considered)
  • Minimum of 10 years of team management in pharmaceutical or biotech experience is required.

The annualized target salary range for this role is $240,000 to $270,000; actual salaries will vary and may be above or below this range depending on several factors, including experience, education, training, location, and merit.
