The High School Social Studies Teacher is responsible for teaching Social Studies to students, creating lesson plans, preparing and delivering lectures, creating and supervising laboratory activities for students, evaluating student performance, maintaining classroom records, meeting with parents, teachers, and other staff. Correct homework, keep attendance records, maintain discipline in the classroom; meet with parents to discuss students progress and problems, and participate in faculty meetings and teacher training workshops; administer tests to assess and evaluate pupils progress, score tests, record results, complete forms to send to the Mississippi Department of Education, and issue reports to inform the schools principal and parents of students progress; assist students in selecting a course of study, counseling students with adjustment and academic problems.
Requirements and Qualifications include: Bachelor in Education; State certification.
