Position Summary

As Ellis Porter continues to rapidly expand, we are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to join our team. This pivotal, hands?on leader will collaborate closely with our Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to build out the FP&A function, incorporating both best practices and our distinctive culture and business needs. The Senior Manager of FP&A will develop and lead forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling processes to support our firms continued growth and innovation, and will instill an environment of data?driven strategic decision?making. This role will collaborate closely with our Executive Leadership team, as well as Practice and Operations Leaders to align financial strategies with operational goals, and support our culture and mission of providing exceptional immigration legal services to our clients.

Its an exciting time at Ellis Porter, and this is an excellent opportunity for you to join us as our first FP&A leader. This Senior Manager will have high visibility with executive leadership, direct impact on strategic decisions, and the autonomy to shape how FP&A supports our ambitious growth plans. The role is initially positioned as a Senior Manager, with clear opportunity for advancement to a Director as the firm scales and the FP&A function matures.

This position can be fully remote from any U.S. location, or based in either our Troy, MI or Ann Arbor, MI office as an in?person or hybrid role. Please note - although this role can be remote, all work must be performed within the United States.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Establish foundational FP&A processes, systems, and reporting frameworks from the ground up. Create standardized monthly and quarterly reporting packages for executive leadership team.
  • Develop and oversee the budgeting processes for all business lines and operating functions, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  • Build and enhance financial models to support scenario analysis, anticipate future business and financial trends, and inform decision?making.
  • Build relationships with practice and operations leaders to become a trusted business partner; gather and synthesize input for financial plans and projections.
  • Partner with the leadership team to translate strategic plans into actionable budgets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Monitor firm performance, spot trends, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend actions to drive results.
  • Identify and help mitigate financial risks associated with operations and client engagements.
  • Develop and analyze pricing models to help drive pricing strategies that reflect the value of services, align with market trends, meet client needs, and ensure profitability.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Assess and implement advanced reporting and business intelligence tools to enhance performance measurement and transparency. Proactively support digital transformation projects to help modernize processes and technologies within the finance function and across the firm, including evaluating opportunities for automation and AI deployment.
  • Support M&A activities, including due diligence, deal structuring, and post?merger integration.
  • Improve financial literacy across the organization through training and ongoing engagement with non?finance Porters.
  • Develop recommendations for future FP&A team structure and staffing needs as the firm scales. Help build a culture of analytical rigor and data?driven decision?making across the organization.

What Skills You'll Bring
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. MBA or CFA is a plus.
  • 6?10 years of progressive FP&A experience, including 2?4 years in a leadership role. Prior professional services or law firm experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing or significantly revamping budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and financial modeling.
  • Proficiency with financial systems/ERP software and BI platforms (e.g., Power BI). Experience integrating data across multiple platforms required. Familiarity with Salesforce?based systems is a strong plus (Litify, Accounting Seed).
  • Superior analytical, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to distill and communicate complicated financial concepts with clarity and educate leadership on recommended decision?making.
  • Detail oriented, organized with a high focus on accuracy and a bias toward action.
  • Experience and desire to work in a progressive, high growth environment with a startup mentality.

  • Strong cultural competence in working with international clients and diverse teams.
