COMPANY OVERVIEW

Built is a growth-stage company at the intersection of FinTech and PropTech. We are on a mission to change the way the world gets built with technology and services that streamline the $1.4T U.S. construction industry.

By providing a centralized platform for all industry stakeholders, Built enables increased efficiency, collaboration, transparency, and business agility—allowing customers to build and manage the communities around us more profitably and with more confidence. The Built platform is used by hundreds of leading North American lenders and asset managers, and thousands of developers, home builders, and contractors. Since our founding in 2015, we've partnered with over 140 of the top financial institutions in the U.S. and Canada, including 35+ of the top 100 U.S. construction lenders.

With our latest $1.5B valuation, we're on a continued growth trajectory and are committed to attracting the best talent in the world. We want you to be a part of this exciting journey.

Built is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Capital Management team. This team is responsible for the financial platform that underpins real estate and construction financing—modeling capital structures, enforcing allocation constraints, and supporting secure, compliant financial transactions across the platform. Our mission is to grow the volume of real estate capital flowing through Built by enabling support for increasingly sophisticated financial agreements, multi-currency accounting, and flexible, high-integrity transaction handling.

As a Senior Engineer on the team, you'll design and build the systems that structure and facilitate capital flow through the Built ecosystem. From representing complex financing arrangements to executing high-integrity transactions across the construction supply chain, your work will power critical capital flows. You'll contribute to a platform that serves as both the system of record and execution engine for governed, auditable, and scalable financial movement.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design and deliver platform capabilities that power the full lifecycle of capital—structuring, allocation, and execution through auditable financial transactions.
  2. Lead medium-to-large initiatives from technical discovery through implementation, balancing long-term platform scalability with real-world user needs.
  3. Evolve architecture and data models to support auditability, performance, and integration across domains and downstream systems.
  4. Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering peers to shape flexible, enforceable financial workflows.
  5. Uphold engineering excellence through clear documentation, robust test coverage, and proactive monitoring.
  6. Foster a collaborative team culture through mentorship, thoughtful code reviews, and clear, respectful communication.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. A Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in computer science or a directly related field, or equivalent work experience.
  2. 5+ years of professional experience building and maintaining web applications and distributed systems.
  3. Strong backend engineering skills, with experience designing and implementing well-structured systems using modern, statically typed languages and proven architectural patterns.
  4. Experienced in building front-end experiences with component-based frameworks like React, and able to contribute effectively across the stack.
  5. Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of taking ownership—delivering high-quality solutions in complex, evolving domains.
  6. Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work effectively across disciplines and give/receive thoughtful feedback.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience building or contributing to internal platforms, shared services, or domain-driven architectures in a multi-team environment.
  2. Experience designing APIs around clearly defined domain boundaries and business capabilities, with a focus on long-term ownership, composability, and clarity of intent.
  3. Experience working in containerized, cloud-native environments, including orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
  4. Exposure to financial systems, capital workflows, or transactional data—particularly where auditability, compliance, or accounting structures are critical.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in event-driven or distributed systems, with a focus on clarity, observability, and resilience.

Built's salary range for this position is $140,000 - $175,000 USD per year. The pay range is designed to accommodate upward mobility in the role, therefore it encompasses the full span of proficiency levels for this role and we believe that the midpoint of the range is competitive in the market. Salary is just one component of Built's total compensation package for employees. Your total rewards package at Built will include equity, top-notch medical, dental and vision coverage, an unlimited PTO policy, and other benefits.

Remote Team Member Travel Requirements:

For remote roles: Travel to Nashville for team events, including Connect Week, is required—typically two weeks per year.

For Manager-level roles and above: Up to 15% travel (approximately 6 weeks per year) may be required for team events and departmental collaborations.

For roles above Manager level: Increased travel may be required, with specific expectations discussed during the interview process.

Exceptions: Any exceptions to travel requirements will be considered through written accommodation.

Our company is made up of passionate people who are driven in a variety of disciplines—and each of them brings their unique perspective to everything they do. Creating a safe and inclusive workplace is critical to the success of our company and of our employees, so it's our aim to recruit, hire and promote without bias against race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, veteran status or any other status protected by applicable law.
