About the Agency: This opportunity is a Information Technology II position with the Management Information Systems department within MS Department of Child Protection Services. The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) is committed to protecting and nurturing Mississippi's at-risk children and families. MDCPS offers a variety of positions statewide, including social work positions providing case management services and working with potential foster families, supervisor positions providing clinical and administrative support, and agency support positions such as policy development, human resources, information technology, program management, training, and budgeting/finance. About the Position: This Non-State, TIME-LIMITED (14) position provides leadership in managing high-impact IT projects and strategic oversight of the agency's Project Management Office. Incumbent will manage the analysis, planning, execution, and finalization of projects according to deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. Incumbent will also define the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle, and ensure deliverables align with the agency's mission to protect children and strengthen families. Incumbent will manage a project portfolio of over $30M and mentor other project managers.This role requires strong leadership skills, project management expertise, and a deep understanding of the IT systems and clinical processes supporting child welfare programs. Knowledge of federal data systems that support child welfare programs (such as the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System (NCANDS) and the Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System (AFCARS)), and how these play a role in policy development, resource allocation, and program improvement at the agency is required.This role is instrumental in maintaining alignment between IT and agency stakeholders. A strong understanding of data and the current case management system is required. Knowledge of the requirements imposed by the second master settlement agreement of the Olivia Y lawsuit is required. Incumbent must understand agency business processes, child welfare practice, the youth court system/judicial processes, permanency objectives, child welfare data, federal regulations and requirements (particularly CCWIS), and other factors that may influence clinical practice and deliverables in a child welfare case management system.
